A realistic wooden eel plug that swims like a snake in the water; this shallow diving (2 - 4 ft.) floating swimmer works best after dark. Through wired and rigged with a single 3/0 VMC belly treble topped off with a custom tied matching teaser tail. Like fishing shallow, boulder strewn areas? Don't like paying 2.00 each for live eels? This plug has your name on it. Throw away your old eel rag! Try putting a fresh dead eel in a plastic baggy along with the plug (to soak up some slime) and you will not be sorry--easier than rigging a skin and super effective. Color patterns are all geared for night-time fishing. We've added a Pikie-style head bevel to the for depth and "r-eel-ism" and of course the 2023 version will be C&R only!
All fishing tackle is subject to federal excise tax (which is not a state sales tax). This excise tax encompasses almost every aspect of our sport from rods to reels to lures. Lures in particular are subject to 10%. Some builders separate the excise tax and tack it onto the price while others build it into the cost (like I do).
All federal excise taxes associated with the Sport Fish Restoration Act that are collected are redistributed to the 50 states based upon their land area and license sales to anglers and hunters. These funds are then used by the states for fisheries and wildlife management as well as land acquisition that benefits the non-hunting population as well.
