Plugs....

3-1/2" Mike's Mini Floating Swimmer...1-1/4oz

Bigger is not always better.  This little swimmer has a great action and is a good choice for use in salt or fresh water.

8" Jointed Herring-Floating Swimmer...2-3/4oz

Swims with a great wobble even at faster retrieve speeds.  Can be trolled and casts extremely well for a jointed plug.

 7" Loud Mouth Popper...  2-3/4oz

The large profile of this plug makes it a big target for surface feeding species.  Pop it or walk it.....day or night.  This plug is big and noisy and throws an amazing amount of water.

5-1/2" Loud Mouth Popper... 1-3/4 oz.

A smaller version of the 7" Loud Mouth Popper.    Pop it or walk it.....day or night.  This plug is just as noisy and effective as the larger version.

  8" Needlefish......2oz

These needles sink evenly and are weighted front and back. I use a slow steady retrieve, occasionally flicking the rod tip, to produce a natural darting action.  It's my first choice after dark or in heavy white water.

6-3/4" Pencil Popper..........2-1/2oz.

  7-3/4" Pencil Popper.........3-1/2oz.

A well balanced surface plug with a nice side to side walk. Best at dawn or dusk, but, can also be used effectively at night by slowing down your retrieve.

Mentioned in On The Water's Oct. 2008 issue:

   6-1/2" The Clone...... 2 oz.

A floating shallow diver with a lexan lip and off center shape gives this plug a tighter wiggle than a metal lip swimmer.  It has the characteristics of a plastic swimmer, yet it is made of wood and thru wired just the same as all our plugs.  This is not your traditional wood plug.  This plug floats and dives 1 to 3 feet.  A steady slow retrieve rate or a slow "stop and go" is recommended.  Can be "tweaked" by bending the wire eye upwards (deeper) or downwards (shallower).

 4-7/8" Spring Squid...... 2-1/2oz

Featured in November 2007 On The Water's Annual Product Review, The Staff's Favorite Gear for 2008 is our "SPRING SQUID"...........what stripers/blues feed on in abundance early in the season, and again in the fall...this plug casts like a bullet and is extremely life-like with flukes and it's full bucktail treble.  Then it's topped off with a few pink hackle tentacles!  While we mix and match many colors and combos, we only make this in pearl white/pink sides with a dusting of glitter. Use anytime, day or night.

5-1/4" Mike's Danny Floating Swimmer.. 1-3/4oz

This small Danny style swimmer will dive a little deeper (1'-2') with a medium to fast retrieve, or stay right on top using a slower than slow "striper style" retrieve.  A wicked wiggle with very little "roll", this swimmer can handle "large" with the best of them!  This plug casts great and is built to take a beating.

Fish are hooked on "Mike's Custom Plugs"...

Reminder:  To keep your valuable plugs in their best possible condition, always remember to rinse with fresh water after use, particularly when exposed to salt water.  This also keeps the hooks sharp and prevents oxidation.

Mike's Custom Plugs proudly uses Spro Swivels, Wolverine Triple Split Rings and VMC PermaSteel Salt Water Hooks and we strongly recommend, catch, photograph and release.
